    This site will give you the names, phone numbers, and addresses of the staff at each of the state’s county department of social services. If you need to report suspected child abuse, call the department in the county where the child lives.
  • North Carolina Child Treatment Program
    This site, which is sponsored by the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, includes a list of trauma-focused therapists for each county in the state. These therapists have special training in helping people to recover from traumas such as child abuse.
  • Prevent Child Abuse – North Carolina
    This site offers news and training about child abuse in our state. Prevent Child Abuse also offers a telephone service for information and referral at 1-800-244-5373 (1-800-CHILDREN).
  • Pandora’s Project
    This website is one of the internet’s oldest and most comprehensive sources of information and support for survivors of rape and sexual abuse, including child sexual abuse. It includes a well moderated message board where survivors can share their stories and offer each other support.
  • Darkness to Light Foundation
    This national organization works to prevent and address child sexual abuse. Darkness to Light designed the Stewards of Children training program which is offered by TEDI BEAR.
  • Childhelp
    Among other services, Childhelp offers a national child abuse hotline at 1-800-422-4453 (1-800-4-A-CHILD) that is staffed around the clock by trained counselors. They can offer advice on how to deal with current or past episodes of child abuse.

    RAINN is the nation’s largest organization working against sexual assault, including child sexual abuse.
