Family Advocacy

The Family Advocate provides support and guidance for the family after the TEDI BEAR evaluation. The FA provides support and information to caregivers by phone and offers necessary assistance to ensure family members are able to access recommended and available interventions. The FA assists with any arising needs of the family, and engages caregivers through problem solving and providing ongoing education, information, and support.

  • addresses cultural issues and barriers
  • assists with victims compensation forms
  • provides court support

Please call for assistance between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday

The FA will also advocate for children and families through ongoing collaboration with MDT partners and key personnel who serve children from various disciplines throughout the region including:

  • Law enforcement personnel
  • DSS staff: CPS investigators, In-Home and Foster Care workers
  • Court officials within District Attorney’s Offices
  • Guardian Ad Litem staff and volunteers
  • Mental Health providers – particularly those providing trauma treatment through NC CTP
  • Victim Advocates from various agencies
  • School personnel
  • Other community providers
